Yola Carlough joined UP’s Board five short months before her passing. Former Social Mission Director at Ben & Jerry’s, Director of Sustainability at Burt’s Bees in NC, and Senior Associate in Business Development at B Lab, (B Corp certification), Yola had much expertise to lend to our evolving organization. She served on the boards of NC Conservation Network, the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS), Vermont Business for Social Responsibility (VBSR), Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in TX and Pure Strategies Sustainability Consulting. Yola had also run a private consulting initiative in the field of sustainability and corporate social responsibility, advising for profit and nonprofit organizations on strategies and practices that support stakeholder primacy, considering the impact of organizational decisions on staff, clients and customers, community and the environment, and balancing profitability with commitment to core mission.
