Building a culture of youth voice and youth-adult partnership
Thursday, October 17 2024
Once again, the North Country Career Center Student Voice Team reinforced its caring culture and constructive practices in the group’s first meeting of the school year. Beginning with reflections on Margaret Wheatley’s poem: Turning to One Another, members of the team shared their hopes for their work together as well as the career center community. From there, they focused on developing work plans for their projects, which include: fall and spring community building and celebration events, student-led assemblies for students interested in the career center programs, extending their outreach to the middle schools and messaging the character and value of the career center programs more effectively. Finally, they talked about the path they took to find their way to the career center, agreeing that their journeys were inspired by their passions and dreams and sustained by the quality of their learning at the career center.
