On November 21, Monument Mountain Regional High School’s Student-Adult Advisory Board gathered 30 students and 5 adults to develop their facilitation skills in service to their work for the school community. Followed the Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) Cycle – the team started with Building Relationships and proceeding through Identifying Issues and Developing Awareness. We ended with Creating a Research Design focused on the next steps for individual committees to meet the long term goals for their school community. Their care for each other, the school, and the greater community shined as they named the importance of connecting with one another and family, and looking after the health of the place they call home (which was healed by the rain that came on this day and diminished the threat of a nearby wildfire).
