Zach is a senior at the University of Vermont, working toward both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work. He joined UP for Learning through UVM’s practicum program, drawn by his interest in restorative practices, social justice, and building his facilitation skills.

He’s passionate about challenging punitive systems and supporting the people and communities most equipped to transform them. Zach finds a lot of meaning in nature and in learning from the ways natural systems connect and sustain each other. He’s especially interested in how we can return to smaller, place-based forms of communal knowledge and care.

Originally from both the East Coast and the Midwest, Zach has spent time long-distance hiking and biking all over. When he’s not outdoors, he’s probably propagating plants, learning how to sew, or realizing halfway through dinner prep that he didn’t read the recipe’s time estimate.
