This youth and adult-led session highlights work engaging youth as critical partners in school safety. Elevating Youth Voice in School Safety is a statewide Youth Participatory Action Research project which originated from the recognition that students are key partners in the work of school safety. The project, conducted by UP for Learning in conjunction with the Vermont Agency of Education and Department of Public Safety, explores youth perceptions and experiences with school safety, including how school safety policies and procedures have impacted students in their day-to-day lives; what concerns students have about safety in their schools; and how to create shared ownership and trust around supporting safe schools.
In this webinar, youth and adult staff from UP for Learning will share their process and findings from this year-long project.
