Webinar – NASBE: State Actions to Develop Youth-Adult Partnerships
October 18 @ 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm
The Getting to “Y” project was recently highlighted during previous LEAHP Communities of Practice, and in a recent NASBE publication as a state exemplar for centering youth in survey data analysis and action planning. NASBE will be hosting the upcoming LEAHP Community of Practice as a public webinar on Tuesday October 18 from 4-5:15 pm ET on youth-adult partnerships.
More than 400 students now serve as members of state boards of education or state advisory councils in 33 states. A recent NASBE analysis highlights how states are embedding student voice in decision-making and opportunities for building on that momentum. This webinar will explore two of these strategies, student advisory positions and student surveys, with lessons for state leaders and others implementing similar programs. The first conversation will feature youth who are partnering with state health and education leaders to center student voice in policies and programs. The second will feature two youth-serving organizations who have centered youth in survey data analysis and action planning. Sharon Koller, GTY Coordinator for Getting to “Y”, will speak about engaging youth in data analysis and action planning. The objective for this session is to share actionable guidance and examples of engaging youth in data collection, analysis, and action planning to address school health-related issues.
